CISA warns of ongoing DDOS attacks across organizations

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has issued a warning about ongoing distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against multiple organizations in multiple sectors. The attacks have been reported in the open source, and CISA is urging organizations to take steps to protect themselves.

DDoS attacks are malicious attempts to overwhelm an organization’s online infrastructure by flooding it with an overwhelming amount of traffic. These attacks can render websites, applications, or networks inaccessible, leading to severe disruptions, revenue loss, and reputational damage.

Here are some ways to defend your business from denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks:

  • Firewall: One effective way to defend against DDoS attacks is by implementing a network firewall. Think of a firewall as a sturdy gatekeeper that filters out potentially harmful traffic while allowing legitimate requests to pass through. It monitors the flow of data in and out of your network, identifying and blocking suspicious or malicious traffic that could be part of a DDoS attack.
  • Load balancing: Distribute incoming traffic across multiple servers or data centers to prevent a single point of failure. This technique helps absorb and handle traffic surges, reducing the impact of a potential DDoS attack.
  • DDoS mitigation services: Consider partnering with a DDoS mitigation service provider that specializes in detecting and mitigating attacks. These services have dedicated teams and advanced technologies to identify and neutralize DDoS attacks quickly.

If you think your business is experiencing a DDOS or DOS attack, it is important to notify your technical personnel right away.
